First impressions are important and London's Cadogan Hotel doesn't disappoint. Just down the road from Sloane Square, the hotel reception, housing an old-style lift, allows guests to immerse themselves in the sense of history of the property. Guests included Oscar Wilde, who was famously waiting for his arrest in room 118, and King Edward who had various liaisons with British actress Lillie Langtry at the hotel. The room I stayed in was beautifully laid out boasting sumptuous linens, velvet-edged boucle bedspreads and robust curtains creating an air of solidity, a feeling of intimacy, but also a sense of fun and intrigue.
